Lori Groinus    Lori Groinus, CST - MN State Assembly President

Lori has been a Surgical Technologist since 1992. She began her career at Fairview Southdale in Edina from 1992-1995, primarily working on the eye team.

She then moved back near her hometown of Kimball and joined the staff at the St. Cloud Hospital where she worked until 2007.

In 2006 she began her current position as faculty instructor and program director for the Surgical Technology program at Rasmussen College in St. Cloud.

Lori also has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education (2004) and a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2013).

Lori lives near Kimball with her husband, Steve, children: Carter (10) and Madelyn (8), and a crazy collie, Ginger.

Jan has been a Surgical Technologist since 1979 when she graduated from Rochester Technical College.  She worked for 2 years in Albert Lea before moving to the Twin Cities where she worked in the OR at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.  In 1987 she was offered a position with Cardiac Surgical Associates as a First Assistant and in 1994 successfully passed the National First Assistant Exam.  

Jan has worked at United Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul for a group of 5 Cardiothoracic Surgeons assisting them in the OR and also in the clinic from 2002 through 2013.  Currently she works as a surgical assistant for the Surgeons with Summit Orthopedics in Woodbury, MN.

Jan has been active with Minnesota Surgical Technologists in numerous capacities in the past.  She was a member of the local Chapter 20 Board serving as Vice President & Treasurer, the Region V Board as Treasurer and past President & Vice President of the MN State Assembly.  She also has been a member of the Legislative committee and has been proactive in the MN legislative efforts. 

Jan keeps busy with her two boys, Sean 20 and Logan 17.  On her list of relaxing things to do, she volunteers at Logan's school and enjoys gardening. 

Jan welcomes any questions or suggestions that the membership may have and is always ready to lend a hand or just a listening ear.

Lori Molus     Lori Molus, CST - MN State Assembly Treasurer

Lori has worked in the medical field for 30 plus years. She has worked as a CST for more than 29 years, having graduated from St. Cloud Technical College, MN, in September, 1985.

Lori has worked mainly in the scrub role for the last 27 years for Unity, Mercy and Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She is currently working in the Operating Room as a Supply Coordinator. Her primary role as a coordinator is for Unity Hospital in Fridley MN part of Allina Health.  She works with all areas of the operating room suite including but not limited to the Surgeons, Staff, Leadership, Supply Chain and Vendors.  

She is employed casual as a CST Unity Hospital in Fridley and Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids MN.

She is married to Gregory James Molus. They have three children. Matthew is 24 years old living in Scottsdale AZ. He is in the Air Force and working in communications. Luke is 22 years old, graduating from the University of St. Thomas in the fall of 2016. Andrea is 19 years old currently a freshman attending College of Saint Benedict saint John’s University.

Lori has served on the Becker School Board as treasurer since 2012. She will be seeking a second 4 year term on the Becker School Board starting in January 1st 2017. She has served as a board member for MHCSMA and is currently a team member on the Upper Midwest planning committee for the fall conference in 2016. This will be her 6th season of collaborating on the planning committee. She has also served as a board member for Becker High School hockey boosters and Becker High School swimming boosters.

In September 2013 Lori was elected for a two year term position as Board of Director on the Minnesota State Assembly.  She is currently serving as the Minnesota State Assembly as Treasurer. She was elected in September, 2015 for a two year term.

Joshua Steichen, CST MN State Assembly Secretary    Josh Steichen, CST - MN State Assembly Secretary

Josh graduated in 2012 from the Surgical Technologists Program at Rochester Community and Technical College. 

He has worked in the health care field for the past 14 years, beginning with his involvement as an Explorer “Jr. EMT” at the Ambulance Explorer Post in Spring Valley, MN, while attending Kingsland High School. He worked as a CNA in many nursing homes, while continued his education at RCTC for his Surgical Technology degree.  After graduating for RCTC in 2012, Josh found a CST position at Winona Health. 

His interest in the medical field was sparked by the numerous surgeries as a preemie, child and young adult. He witnessed first hand the dedication and compassion of the Doctors, Nurse and “Surgical Techs” as a patient. He then knew that someday he wanted to give the same dedication and compassion to his patients.

He currently lives alone in Winona, MN. His father served in the Air Force and was raised a military brat, therefore has no home town. He has lived in Omaha, NE, Pensacola, FL, Portland, OR, Mason City, IA and Spring Valley, MN. In his spare time he enjoys listening to music while cooking, wineries, working-out, hiking/backpacking, camping and was active in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Also, he enjoys both domestic and foreign travel. He has been to almost all of the fifty state, England, Germany and Austrian. His dream trip would been to take a month and visit the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Greece.

He has been an active and involved member of the MN State Assembly and AST since Spring of 2012 as a student. He as attended almost every workshop since the Spring 2012. In September 2016, Josh was elected for a two year term as Secretary. Previously, Josh was elected for a two year term as Board of Directors of the Minnesota State Assembly March 2014 and has served as a Delegate for Minnesota State Assembly at the AST National Conferences.

   Tami Maki    Tamie Maki, CST - MN State Assembly Director/Treasurer

Tamie has worked as a Surgical Technologist for 3 years, working at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Tamie graduated with an Associate in Applied a Science Degree from the Surgical Technology Program at Anoka Technical College in Anoka, MN in December 2010.

In her spare time, Tamie enjoys gardening, baking/cooking, scrapbooking when she can and the occasional home remodel.

Tamie has been married to her husband, Chris, for almost 26 years, raising 4 children, Anthony(24), Brittney(21), Colton(17), and Aaron(11).

Amy Campeau     Amy Campeau, CST/CSFA - MN State Assembly Director

Amy graduated from St. Cloud Technical College in September, 1987 and has worked the whole time in the Medical field. She worked at Unity Hospital for 11 years as a Tech and resigned in 1998. She then became a traveling Surgical Tech. She stayed at Chapel Hill, North Carolina working at UNC for a six month period. In April of 1999, she started with Specialist In General Surgery LTD, as a Surgical Assistant. Before being employed with Specialist In General Surgery Ltd, she did get her Surgical Assisting Certification. In October, 2011 she took a casual position as a CST working on the weekends.

Her Surgical Assisting role with Specialist In General Surgery is:

Making sure cases are scheduled correct and the right amount of time.  She makes sure the patient is shaved, position and prepped correctly for the procedure. She makes sure all the instruments and equipment that that particular surgeon likes. She coordinates with the hospitals service leaders if the Dr.’s need special equipment.

She is the liaison for the doctors when Representatives for companies have new Equipment/Mesh/Staplers are needed.

She is a Single mom and has a daughter, Erin. Erin is a 9th grader at Blaine High School. Her passion is Volleyball.

In September 2016 Amy was elected for a two year term position as Board of Director on the Minnesota State Assembly.

 Linda Slinden     Linda Slinden, CST - MN State Assembly Director

Linda went to school at Rasmussen College in St Cloud where she obtained her AAS Degree as a Surgical Technologist and graduates with honors on September 2013.

She started her surgical technology career at a surgical center where she decided to become certified and accomplished that goal on February 2015.

Linda has been a member of the MN State Assembly since April 2012.

She lives on a little hobby farm with her military husband and their 2 horses, 2 dogs, 1 cat and more animals in the future.

Linda enjoys traveling and never turns down a chance for an adventure.

Michelle Stark     Michelle Stark, CST - MN State Assembly Director

Michelle graduated from Lake Superior College in 2014.

She is a CST at Lakewalk Surgery Center in Duluth, MN.

This is her first tech job since graduating where she mainly scubs plastics and orthopedics.

She enjoys living in Duluth with her fiancé, dog and cat. Not being far from where she grew up in Superior, WI she stays in contact with her family and they are together often.
