Since 1969 the Association of Surgical Technologists has sought to bring together surgical technologists and other healthcare professionals and organizations to promote quality patient care by developing educational programs, promoting professional standards and credentials, providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, monitoring the changing healthcare environment, and fostering other opportunities for the personal and professional growth of all surgical technologists and surgical assistants. 

 Our Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide surgical technologists the opportunity to grow through continuing education, legislation, and marketing. By networking with other health care professionals, we will ultimately contribute to the care of our surgical patients.

Candidates interested in an officer position shall have been an active AST member for one year immediately preceding nomination. If elected, the member must maintain active status with AST.


Candidates interested in a Director position shall have been a member for one year immediately preceding nomination. If elected, the member must maintain active status with AST. (Could have been a student member as long certified at the time of nominations.)

If you are interested in how our profession is being shaped within the state of Minnesota please consider becoming part of our MN State Assembly Board.  Commitment entails 4-6 meetings a year, or as needed for workshops to be put together.

Elections will be held for 6 Delegates & 6 Alternate Delegates to go to the AST National Surgical Technologists Conference in San Diego, California from May 31- June 4, 2016.
